In the conduit metaphor it is "more difficult to see that there is anything hidden byt he metaphor or even see that there is a metaphor here at all."

The meaning is right there in the words.

ch. 4 orientational metaphors
orientational metaphors have to do with space. "Up-down, in-out, front-back, on-off, deep-shallow, central-peripheral."

metaphor and cultural coherence has to do with concepts in our culture. It is has to do with what we think is better.

"Ontological metaphors serve various purposes, and the various kinds of metaphors there are reflect the kinds of purposes served." It refers to our experiences.

Inflation is lowering.

The act of a non-living thing coming to life and taking of the action of a human being or any other living thing.

This is when you are using an action this person did to describe them. It renames the person as what happened in their action.

The ham sandwich is waiting for his check.

This chapter refers to mostly time and what has happened, is happening, or will happen eventually.

This chapter just gives more examples of the kinds of metaphors we use all the time and don't realize we are using them. It just goes into further details about the different types of metaphors out there.

this chapter says that we use structure and foundation of something to describe something else. We relate the two objects together even when we think they are non-relatable.

This chapter is talking about a physical action someone is doing. It is a simple statement that informs people.

This chapter involves using metaphors in arguments. They are used to make a point and influence the other person to choose your side.
