-coherent- if 'up' were constant in meaning in all contexts
-incoherent- vice versa

-values conflict, like bigger is better vs. saving money is better
-vary by culture
metaphor: patience is virtue

-orientation is only a basis of metaphors
-personification of metaphors
metaphor: being rusty on a topic
Chapter 7:
-personification of metaphors again...
metaphor: this paper is keeping me up all night.
Chapter 8:
-one sided metaphor, not connecting two ideas, just another name for one
metaphor: the leader will be here today; Dr. Bowman will be here today, the leader of the university.
Chapter 9:
-some metaphors don't connect
metaphor: life is a highway vs. life is an ocean
Chapter 10:
-lists more usual cases, like ideas to machines, ideas to plants
metaphor: bell bottoms died off as a trend.
Chapter 11:
-isolated vs. usual cases
metaphor: the phrase 'full of win', which is a fad, victory described in slang not being a usual metaphor
Chapter 12:
-of social, spacial and emotional sitautions, no one takes precedence over the others
metaphor: Bob is driving down the highway. Bob is stressed.
Chapter 13:
-the idea of taking basic metaphors and pulling them apart
metaphor: I could sense the gears eworking in his mind, rather than his mind is a machine.
